Outreach & Education

Our core programs are related to prevention and outreach education. We try to tailor our programs to the audience we are teaching. We have many anatomical models that lend to the creativity of the presentations. We also employ current technology, i.e. i clickers, which has been well accepted and aides in the evaluation of the program.

Community Health Advocacy Program

The East Georgia Cancer Coalition CHA program (Community Health Advocacy Program) is rapidly advancing to a fully fledged program. We have a program that we are very proud of because this program helps people navigate the health systems. Screening is initiated and referral/follow-up provided.

We are now covering the following counties with volunteers attached: Lincoln, Warren, Wilkes, Richmond, McDuffie, Greene, Columbia and Taliaferro. All of the foresaid counties have a healthcare and educational component attached to them with Greene County being our most recent addition.

We are currently recruiting a volunteer base for Barrow, Jackson and Oglethorpe counties. It is in these counties where we are now focuing our attention on the citizens who may be in need of our educational and healthcare services, with the latter being by referral. This fiscal year we have had to date: 168 encounters, with six diagnoses and treatment provided.
