The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support offers educational, emotional, and spiritual support to cancer patients and families in our community. The Center serves as a resource for patients before, during, and after cancer treatment by providing support groups, individual and family counseling, educational seminars, and a resources library. All services are offered at no charge to anyone in the community.
The Woven Dialog Workshop uses writing and group dynamics as a healing modality to increase quality of life for cancer patients, their families, caretakers,
and health care workers. This process uses imaginative writing to address the inherent wholeness of the patient, as well as utilizing a unique group method accessing the healing potential of the group through active listening and written observations. Participants are able to find a context and meaning for illness and other whole life issues in a group which becomes a safe container to express feelings and thoughts that may be inhibited in other settings.
